§ 4-30. Disposition of impounded animals.

  • (a)

    Any dog which as been impounded may be redeemed by paying the impounding officer $10.00 initial impounding fee and $4.00 daily impounding fee, plus any other fees that may be due, including the cost of vaccinating said animal for rabies, as required by state law ($8.14 veterinary fee), which shall be done before it is returned to the owner. If animal is under three months of age, the fee must still be paid and the impounded animal returned for rabies vaccination when it reaches three months of age.

    (b)

    If any dog which has been impounded is not redeemed within three days thereafter, the city may sell or destroy the animal or may dispose of it in any manner which the mayor directs.
